Links for 6.11.08: M.I.A. cancels, dads rap, OLPC’s tunes…
by Josh Kimball
*M.I.A. has cancelled her European tour. Possibly to plan her wedding.
*The Times on Lil Wayne: “He often raps about smoking dope and swigging cough syrup.”
*Fashion(?): Punk rock belts for children. I’ll be honest with you. I don’t know what punk rock means.
*A collection of goods made out of repurposed vinyl records: bowls, bracelets, coasters.
*One Laptop Per Child: Teaching the world to sing? “TamTam, a piece of software that allows children to create their own music, is central to the OLPC educational mission.” [work]
*Lily Allen has been posting fairly heavily on her blog lately. Unquestionably frightening, but on the plus side, she makes the listenerd look almost literate.
*Local (kinda): The Hold Steady is streaming their new album, Stay Positive, on their MySpace page. MySpace. Quaint!
