Links for 10.3.08: In what respect, Charlie?, Andre 3k and MORE
by Josh Kimball
*Phrases: “In what respect, Charlie?” is this year’s “Heckuva job, Brownie.” I have zero doubt about this. Zero. This is a STRONG BUY. Buzzfeed that, mfers.
*Punk: Moby goes punk with the help of a Craigslist ad. Remember when he did that song with Gwen Stefani? Good. Effing. Times.
*Fashion: Andre 3000 gets into the clothing business, and the New York Times is there. Of the fashion line, the Gray Lady says “It looked like Ralph Lauren having a Steampunk moment.” I misread that as “Steampunk movement” the first time I saw it.
*Metal: I love it when Metal Sucks gets all political and impassioned and shit.
*Correspondence: It seems like Dear Assholes could be a popular and potentially lucrative sub-genre of passive-aggressive letter all on its own. (I have written at least three of this type of letter.) Note to self: Follow up on this if/when you are unemployed.
*Saramago: I previously mentioned Blindness – a film adaptation of a book by Nobel-winning novelist Jose Saramago (whose “The History of the Siege of Lisbon” should be required reading for anyone in the editorial profession). It now comes to my attention that blind people hate Blindness and that the first 5 minutes of the film are now available online.
*Personalization: Idiomag a personalized music magazine, based on your taste in music from such services as Last.fm, Pandora, iLike and a few more. What, the listenerd isn’t good enough for you?
